Every year Haringey Libraries and Haringey Schools Librarians Group teams up with Alexandra Palace to encourage young people aged 9–12 years old (years 5 – 7) to take the Biblio-Buzz challenge.
In May Waterstones Children’s Laureate Cressida Cowell announced the winners of the Haringey Libraries and Alexandra Palace Children’s Book Awards 2020.
The project aims to inspire children to learn the joys of reading by challenging them to complete six books, before voting for their favourite. Along the way they can attend workshops and reading circles as well as have the opportunity to meet the shortlisted authors.
The shortlisted books for 2020 were:
- A Pocketful of Stars – Aisha Bushby
- The Middler Kirsty Applebaum
- Anna at War – Helen Peters
- Can you See Me? – Libby Scott/Rebecca Westcott
- Check Mates – Stewart Foster
- Malamander – Thomas Taylor
You can still watch book readings by our wonderful participating authors on the Alexandra Palace blog pages.
Pupils can also take on their challenges and submit your creations to learning@alexandrapalace.com. The closing date is 20 June and the winners and prizes in will be announced in July.
