Campsbourne school plaque commemorates female footballer

A plaque to commemorate the life of pioneering black British female footballer, Emma Clarke, was unveiled at Campsbourne School in December.
The Mayor of Haringey, Cllr Sheila Peacock, was among the attendees at the school where Emma and her sister, Florence, used to play football in the mid-1890s – on what would have been Emma’s 143rd birthday.
Former Arsenal Women and England Lionesses captain Faye White and Florence’s great grand-nephew David Witham were also present.
The plaque unveiling, which was preceded by a girls’ football tournament in Emma’s name, was featured on Channel 5 news.
