Haringey Children's Book Award 2018 winner

Haringey children in years 5 – 7 voted for this year’s award, which was won by Kiran Millwood Hargrave for The Island at the Edge of Everything.

All participating schools enjoyed a great day, with author workshops and signings and ‘meet and greets’, as well as the award ceremony itself.

Other shortlisted books for 2018 were:

  • Tender Earth by  Sita Brahmachari

  • Sweet Pizza by GR Gemin

  • Jake Atlas and the Tomb of the Emerald Snake by Rob Lloyd Jones

  • The Jamie Drake Equation by Christopher Edge

  • Who let the Gods out? by Maz Evans

The award has grown over the past 5 years and there will be some more changes to come in 2019. The award will change its name to the 'Alexandra Palace Children's Book Award' and will be owned and run by the education team at Alexandra Palace, with the next year’s award ceremony taking place in the newly refurbished theatre.

Please keep an eye out for publicity about the APCBA award.

The HCBA team would like to thank Heartlands High School for the past five years of hosting the ceremony day, administering and developing the Award over the past five years.
