Lordship Lane Primary School rewarded for outstanding leadership

Lordship Lane Primary School and headteacher Michelle Randles have been awarded The Prince’s Teaching Institute (PTI) Primary Leadership Programme Mark.

The new Primary School Residential and Leadership Programme aims to build on the PTI’s already successful secondary school model, connecting teachers and headteachers with a network of schools and the opportunity to explore other approaches to school leadership. The focus, as with all the PTI’s activities and courses, is to enhance and enrich the quality of subject teaching.

The school has gained the mark for developing an ethos and culture of high aspiration for pupils and providing effective professional development for primary schools teachers and headteachers.

Each school involved undertakes an action-based research project that will be of benefit to all participating schools. Lordship Lane’s project is about developing the teaching of reading in order to enable children to make rapid progress throughout their primary years.

Michelle commented,

“We are delighted to be awarded the Primary Leadership Programme Mark for our research work, and will be proud to carry the Mark on our stationery and website as evidence of our commitment to inspirational teaching and improving the life chances of the children in our care.”
