The Haringey Obesity Alliance, in partnership with the Haringey Youth Council, Haringey Council and a range of local community organisations, is organising a February half term event for young people ( from year 9 to 13).
The event, which will be called #FixUp LookSharp will take place between 3 and 6pm on Tuesday 13 February, at a venue to be confirmed.
The aim of the event will be to promote the health and wellbeing of young people in Haringey through a series of workshops, whilst also taking the opportunity to ask young people to create new ideas on how they think obesity can be tackled in Haringey.
Members of the Youth Council have been instrumental in shaping the content of the event to ensure that it is exciting and engaging for their peers. As a result, the agenda will include:
- free food;
- fun workshops including circus skills, dancing, Tottenham Hotspurs Foundation sessions, martial arts and taste challenges;
- opportunities to contribute new and creative ideas on how obesity can be tackled in Haringey. There will be a prize for the winning idea, with potential for these ideas to be implemented across Haringey;
- inspirational speakers;
- dance performers.
