Campaign to encourage sixth former voter registration

Even though teenagers can’t vote until they turn 18, it’s not too early for them to get ready to make their opinion count.

They can register to vote once they turn 16 if they are a British, Irish, EU or qualifying Commonwealth citizen.

This means that they will be sent a poll card automatically for the first election that they are eligible to vote in after their 18th birthday.

It also means that they will start to have evidence for a credit rating to help with their financial future.

Elections to Haringey Council are taking place on Thursday 5 May 2022. If you are 18 on or before this date, make sure you register now to ensure you can vote.

Registering to vote is quick and simple.  You can register online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote.  Registering takes no longer than five minutes – students will need their National Insurance number (if they have one).
