Dear Heads, Principals, Chairs of Governors and all school staff,
A very warm welcome back to the new academic year. We hope that you have had a relaxing break and a smooth start to the term.
As you will see below, Haringey’s children and young people have continued to do fantastically well from early years right through to post 16 which is a huge accolade to each and every one of you.
We also wanted to write to let you know that, as well as the myriad other issues that crop up, our strategic focus this term will include:
- providing practical support to schools to manage and respond to the expected financial challenges in the year ahead
- continuing to develop the Haringey Education Partnership (HEP) with heads and governors
- looking at the borough-wide reception PAN to see how it might be adapted to respond to actual and projected falling demand in some parts of the borough
- working closely with our regeneration colleagues to ensure that future new housing for the borough is supported by high quality educational provision in the right places without threatening the viability of our existing schools, and
- looking very carefully at both maintenance and repairs to school and considering larger projects to ensure that the finite budgets we have to support schools with these matters is spent fairly and judiciously.
We look forward to getting out to see as many of you as possible in your schools. In the meantime, please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions about this or any matters relating to your school.
Warm wishes
Eveleen Riordan and James Page
