Haringey student wins Foyle Young Poets of the Year Award

17-year old Haringey student Giovanni Rose has won the prestigious Foyle Young Poets of the Year Award with his poem Welcome to Tottenham.

A global competition with over 6,000 entries, the award is for children aged 11-17 writing original works in English.

Giovanni, a student at the London Academy of Excellence, Tottenham, who previously attended Duke’s Aldridge Academy, said:

“It was an amazing feeling. It’s important to use your voice; you’ll never know what changes you can make until you try.”
