You can find out more about Healthy Start Vouchers on our website here Healthy Start Vouchers | Haringey Council – in a nutshell it is up to £900 of support to low income parents of young children under 4 years old and/or expectant mothers. That is £900 per child.
It’s especially important now we try and get the word out, as many parents/new parents are not fully accessing wider support due to COVID-19 and maybe missing out on this information. This is an NHS product.
What is the council doing?
- There is a dedicated staff member pushing it.
- Healthy Start Vouchers is part of the Haringey Here To Help Campaign, so if you are on Facebook or Twitter, you can share the information to your followers there (I know many of you are, thank you).
- We are working with partners like children’s centres, schools, etc to get awareness up.
- Training for partners to help people fill in the form
- We are also getting local retailers to sign up to accept the vouchers so parents do not have to keep travelling to supermarkets to redeem the vouchers and can also purchase food related to their culture if they wish (as well as a community wealth building benefit).
How many people have applied?
- Our data shows that over 3100 families could be eligible.
- We currently have 1521 signed up so around 50%
How can you help?
Please can share within your networks or WhatsApp groups, mutual aid groups etc.
If you need anything, like leaflets, posters or maybe printed copies of the form then please email Linda.Edward@haringey.gov.uk who is really helpful and really determined to get as many eligible people signed up as possible. There is also information in other languages she can send you.
