The LGBTQI+ Network meets monthly and is currently made up of a mix of dedicated LGBTQI+ organisations and organisations working with LGBTQI+ people, with the shared aim of making Haringey the best place it can be for LGBTQI+ communities. Currently a focus is around safe spaces and tackling hate crime, and the Network is developing a programme of activities to tackle hate crime focusing on 4 themes:
- Prevention and community building
- Campaigning
- Working with local businesses
- Ally training
The Network is keen to invite schools in the borough to join, to share the LGBTQI+ focused initiatives taking place in their schools and be involved in ongoing joint work. There will be opportunities for schools to link in their anti-hate crime focused events and create their own events as part of the wider Network programme.
