WeMove is organising a new Dance and Community Leadership course for 16 -24-year-olds in Haringey. Through the course students will:
- learn how to teach dance to a professional standard
- receive support in setting up their own projects in their schools/colleges and local community
- have enriched training in: music production; dance history; community activism; budgeting/setting up a business
- there will be at least ten guest sessions throughout the year with industry professionals such as Mikey J Asante (Artistic Director of Boy Blue Dance Company, and music producer for Kano and other artists), and Kloe Dean (Artistic Director of Myself Dance, the UK’s leading female hip hop dance company).
The outcome will be at least one qualification (with Sports Leaders UK, and hopefully an additional qualification in community work with ASDAN), at least ten hours of work experience, and producing a summer community dance event.
