Black Arts Production Theatre (Bap) is a local performing arts theatre company based in Tottenham. They are having a free performing arts event that directly addresses some of the solutions to the youth violence in our communities. The event will comprise of a series of sketches performed by young people, followed by a panel discussion.
The target audience are families, as we believe this is the most effective way to create a change.
It all takes place on Thursday 25 July at the Greig City Academy school located on Hornsey High Street. The doors open at 5.30 and the show starts 6 pm – 8pm

All secondary schools and sixth forms are invited to send a representative to the Post-16 Strategy Meeting taking place on Thursday 20 June at the Haringey Education Partnership offices at Hornsey School for Girls, Inderwick Rd, Crouch End, London N8 9JF from 2pm – 4pm. The meeting will consider developing Haringey’s post-16 strategy to meet the needs of Haringey’s learners in seven strands:

· Outcomes
· Careers advice and guidance
· NEETs and unknowns
· Exclusions and AP
· Employment for EHC and SEND pupils

Haringey’s Public Health team is in the second phase of rolling out the Asthma Friendly Schools campaign. After a very successful launch event in December 2018, many schools have already been awarded asthma friendly status or are working towards this goal.
The team is planning their second Train the Trainer event and would like to invite enthusiastic people from schools who did not attend the previous event to come and train to be asthma champions.

The programme aims to improve asthma recognition and management within schools as, although asthma is common, outcomes within the UK are amongst the worst in Europe. Improving asthma management within schools has many benefits, including:

National Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) day will be a celebration of excellent RSE that educates children and young people about healthy relationships and positive sexual health. This is the first year this has been celebrated nationally, and provides an opportunity to highlight the new national guidance for Relationships Education, RSE and Health Education which will be mandatory from September 2020.

To support your journey in preparing for mandatory RSE, the Sex Education Forum has produced a useful roadmap which sets out the 10 steps for providing high quality RSE.
Haringey Council is rolling out free two-day Youth Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training for schools, which will provide staff with the skills and confidence to spot early signs of mental health needs in a young person, offer mental health ‘first aid’ and, if appropriate, guide them towards other support they may need.
The provision of this training is part of the Mayor of London’s programme to ensure that every school in London has at least one Youth Mental Health First Aider. More information can be found in the attached leaflet.

All training will take place from 9am to 5pm at Hornsey School for Girls and will be delivered by professionals from Haringey Council and Whittington Health NHS Trust.
