Finding Hari – free orienteering activity

Hari the bear is out and about in Haringey again celebrating October’s International Walking Month.

The Smarter Travel Team have devised a resource which is suitable for Key Stage 1 and early years (but could also be an option for key stage 2).

This activity will help you cover many parts of the school travel plan, links to healthy schools and offers an educational bonus of geography, maths, English and science. Plus everyone gets extra exercise.

Fifteen different teddy pictures are located in 5 Haringey parks: Lordship Rec, Bruce Grove, Markfield, Chestnuts and Priory Parks. The images were created by Haringey pupils last year and contain important messages about road safety, active travel and anti-pollution.

We are encouraging all of our primary schools and nurseries to visit one of the parks, log how many people join in and tell us. If you can count your steps that would be good too. Find the pictures and either take a photo or write down what the message is on all 15 bears.

Prizes: every class taking part which lets us know will be entered into a prize draw to win one of four scooters.

Send the evidence to your School Travel Plan co-ordinator or to Wendy Thorogood:
